Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA) App Design & Animation

Upstride Agency collaborated with the Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA) on two groundbreaking projects that showcased our expertise in UX design and scientific communication.

what we did

Scientific Animation for Retina Mapping

Upstride was engaged to create a compelling scientific animation that visually represents CERA’s innovative work in mapping the human retina, making complex research accessible and understandable to a broader audience.

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT: Upstride worked closely with CERA’s scientific team to understand the intricacies of their retina mapping research. We then developed a concept for an animation that would accurately depict this process in a visually engaging manner.

ANIMATION DESIGN: The 3D-style animation was designed to be both scientifically accurate and visually striking, using high-quality graphics to illustrate the retina mapping process. The design aimed to simplify complex scientific information, making it accessible to both scientific and general audiences.

The scientific animation was successfully completed and has been used by CERA in various presentations, educational materials, and public communications. It has helped demystify the complex process of retina mapping, enabling CERA to effectively communicate their groundbreaking research to a wider audience.

World Health Organisation Eyes App

Upstride was engaged to design and develop an intuitive, user-friendly app that enables people globally to test their eye health at home, supporting the World Health Organisation’s mission to promote accessible healthcare.

APP STRUCTURE & UX DESIGN: We created a clear and intuitive structure for the app, ensuring ease of use for a diverse global audience. The UX design focused on making the eye testing process simple, engaging, and accessible, with features that cater to users of varying technological proficiency.

VISUAL DESIGN: We crafted a visually appealing design that is both professional and approachable, aligning with WHO’s branding while ensuring the app’s functionality remains the focal point.

CONTENT CREATION: We developed the app content, including instructional guides, and user instructions. The content was designed to be easily understood by users of different languages and literacy levels, supporting the app’s global reach.

The WHO Eyes app was successfully launched in 2023 and is now used by people worldwide to test their eye health from the comfort of their homes. The app’s intuitive design and clear content have made it an effective tool in global eye health management, demonstrating Upstride’s ability to create impactful digital health solutions.
